Pumpkin and Cheese Dog Treat Recipe

Did you know that pumpkin is a wonderful source of Vitamins A, E, and C – these are important for your dog’s immune system, brain function, eyes, and skin health. On top of that, pumpkin also contains minerals such as potassium, copper, manganese, and iron, all of which play a role in cellular functions. And when you add cheese into the mix, you’ve got a homemade cookie that will have your doggie drooling!
Makes about 40 cookies
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup pureed pumpkin
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
2. In a large bowl, beat eggs, then mix in oil and pumpkin. Stir in cheddar cheese.
3. Add flour and baking powder, mixing until combined. You may want to get your hands into the mix to make sure it’s all combined.
4. Flour your countertop and roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter. Place shapes on cookie sheets.
5. Place in oven and let bake for 17 - 20 minutes, until golden brown.
6. Remove cookies from oven and allow to cool for 2-3 hours.
7. Place treats in an airtight containers and store in refrigerator or freezer.
